  • Ensure that all staff and volunteers are trained and equipped to recognise and respond to signs of abuse or neglect.

  • Provide clear procedures for reporting and managing safeguarding concerns.

3. Scope

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, tutors, performers, and any other individuals associated with NTA who come into direct contact with children and young people under the age of 18. It covers all activities provided by NTA, including dance classes, performances, workshops, events, and any other related services.

  • Acting as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns and managing any allegations of abuse or neglect.

  • Maintaining accurate records of any safeguarding concerns.

6. Recruitment and Selection of Staff

All staff and volunteers working with children will be recruited through a safe recruitment process, which includes:

  • Ensure that activities are supervised at all times.

  • Never take children alone in a vehicle or engage in one-on-one activities without prior approval.

8. Safeguarding Concerns and Reporting Procedures

If staff or volunteers have any concerns about a child’s welfare, they must:

  • Immediately report their concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

  • If the DSL is unavailable, the deputy DSL should be contacted.

  • If an allegation involves the DSL or deputy DSL, the concern should be reported to another responsible adult.

  • If required, the DSL will make a referral to social services or the relevant local authorities for further investigation.

  • All information regarding the concern will be kept confidential and shared only with those who have a legitimate need to know.
